Greystar Real Estate Partners, LLC, announced the purchase of a portfolio of Manhattan apartments from Thurcon Properties, Inc., a New York real estate company. 

Greystar Real Estate Partners, a Charleston, S.C., fund manager, has for years wanted to break into the Manhattan residential market but didn't have the contacts it needed to find deals.

At the start of his career, Rick Aidekman brokered commercial properties. When the time came to go out on his own, rather than compete with his old boss, he decided to break new ground.
